Able Software has recently released an enhancement to our receipt printing capability within the Utility Star System platform.
Utility Companies accept in-person payments for utility bills practically every day. The Utility Star Billing System provides multiple customer receipt printing formats to accommodate the varying requirements of our utility company customers.
To further improve our receipt printing options, Able Software has now included the ability for customer receipts to show a credit balance for customer payment transactions. This is an enhancement to our Print Receipt function that allows for different options for displaying customer balances on printed receipts.
For example, if a customer has a current credit balance but wishes to make a service payment, Able Software system users can opt to show a zero current balance or include a credit balance on the receipt instead.
There is a one-time setup required in order to configure the system to include this new receipt printing function. Here’s how utilize the new “Print receipt” function.
1. Users need to update their Utility Star software to version 9.9.081 or higher.
2. Log in UTP, Company -> Rule Management -> Category: Payment -> Enable ‘PSShowCreditBalance’.
See screenshot illustration below:
3. Once the system is set up to include the credit balance option for receipt printing, any customer wishing to render payment in excess of their current outstanding balance can see the current payment amount AND a current credit balance on the account payment receipt. Previous versions of Utility Star would only display the payment amount on the receipt. If the ‘PSShowCreditBalance’ function is disabled, then of course, this new (credit balance) amount would not display on printed customer receipts. E.g. the following account has a $3 credit balance before $5 payment:
