Able Software has recently incorporated the ability to log in to your Utility Star system in a variety of ways!
The new system user login screen now includes three options for users to log in and access the system. There are three tabs contained within the updated login screen:
The Utility Star User tab allows system users to log in as before, by using their existing Utility Star name and password. The Current Domain User tab allows users to utilize their standard Windows user name and password and will auto-populate that information, thus providing “Single Sign-On” functionality. The Other Domain User tab allows a system administrator to login to a user’s workstation using their own user name and password so as to retain their system rights functionality to perform system configuration or diagnostic work, as required.

- Current Domain User
- Other Domain User
The Single Sign-On option is more convenient and provides user authentication via Windows Active Directory services. Active Directory allows the user’s security rights to be auto-synchronized so logging in using your Windows password automatically assigns the same Utility Star user rights that are associated with your log in.
Lately, we also updated Utility Star for Active Directory. Administrator can now import multi-users’ information within domain into USP at one time, and configure certain rights in USP according to their needs. Besides, operators can now easily log in USP, and no longer need to enter password every login as long as they are specified domain users.
To begin using Utility Star Active Directory Integration (Single Sign-On), please update your Utility Star system to build number 68 or higher.
In order to enable single sign-on feature, your system administrator should initially login to Utility Star using the “Other Domain User” tab and then inputting their standard login info.
Once this step has been completed, all Utility Star system users will be synchronized with the new system update and can begin using the Other Domain User tab to login using their Windows login info automatically.
This is the new Utility Star login screen:
By selecting the “Current Domain User” tab, users will automatically be logged into Utility Star.
